Measures to prevent Volvo alternator damage?

03/03/2022

In the daily use of Volvo generators, what measures should we take to prevent generator damage? Here is a detailed introduction for you:
        1. Check that the stator winding ends are not loose to prevent phase-to-phase short circuits.
        2. Prevent the short circuit between phases of stator windings.
Strengthen the inspection of the temperature of each temperature measurement point of the generator to prevent local overheating from damaging the insulation.
        3. Prevent the cooler from leaking.
        1. Bring a flashlight during inspection, and carefully check the cooler for water leakage and condensation.
        2. The cooling water pressure cannot exceed the rated value.
        4. Pay attention to check the generator negative sequence ammeter during operation, so as to detect abnormality early and prevent short circuit between rotor turns.
        5. Prevent the generator from running in all phases. When the main circuit breaker of the generator-transformer unit is in non-full-phase operation, its related protection should start the circuit breaker failure protection in time, and when the main circuit breaker cannot be disconnected, disconnect all power supplies connected to the same bus.
        6. Prevent generators from being connected to the grid asynchronously.
        7. Prevent local overheating of the generator. When the generator overheats alarm, measures should be taken to reduce the temperature, and if necessary, stop the machine to eliminate the shortage.
        8. When the rotor winding of the generator is grounded at one point, the fault point and nature should be identified immediately. If it is a stable metal grounding, it should be stopped immediately.
        9. Prevent generator damage caused by excitation system failure.
        1. When the automatic channel of the excitation regulator fails, it should be repaired and put into operation in time.
        2. It is strictly forbidden for the generator to run for a long time under manual excitation regulation.
        3. During the operation of manual excitation regulation, when adjusting the active load of the generator, the reactive load of the generator must be properly adjusted to prevent the generator from losing its static stability.

        4. When the power supply voltage deviation is +10%~-15% and the frequency deviation is +4%~-6%, pay attention to check that the excitation control system and its relays, switches and other operating systems can work normally.
